IHPC Sends Letter to HHS in Support of NCCIH and Whole Health Research Amid Budget Considerations

The Integrative Health Policy Consortium (IHPC) and our member organizations strongly support the Administration’s effort to improve health outcomes through a whole person, preventive approach as outlined in Executive Order 14212.
We recognize the financial challenges facing the federal government and the need to make strategic budget decisions. At the same time, we urge continued support for the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). Even with a modest budget of $170 million, NCCIH plays a critical role in advancing cost-effective, non-pharmacological approaches to health—such as nutrition, movement, mind-body practices, and integrative treatments—which are central to the vision of whole health and have the potential to reduce healthcare costs.

MAHA Commission Releases Report on Children’s Health
A recent report, the Make Our Children Healthy Again Assessment recently issued by the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission provides some disturbing health trends for children in the U.S. The document presents the stark reality of American children’s declining health, backed by compelling data and long-term trends. More importantly, it seeks to unpack the potential dietary, behavioral, medical, and environmental drivers behind this crisis. To turn the tide and better protect our children, the United States must act…

Partner for Health Profile
International Chiropractic Association
The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) was established in 1926 in Davenport, Iowa by Dr. BJ Palmer who is known as the ‘developer’ of chiropractic. Originally named the Chiropractic Health Bureau, Dr. Palmer established the organization to advance the profession, initially through educating state legislators and regulators about what chiropractic is and why doctors of chiropractic are a separate and distinct profession predicated on its unique philosophy, art, and science. As a result, the ICA helped gain official recognition and licensure in U.S. states and territory. Recognizing that the need for chiropractic is global, Dr. Palmer initiated a name change. In the 1980s the ICA moved its offices to the Washington, DC region in order to better reach our national legislators and policy makers.
The group’s vision is to empower humanity to optimal life expression, health, and human potential through specific and scientific chiropractic care. Its mission is to protect and promote chiropractic throughout the world as a distinct healthcare profession predicated upon its unique philosophy, science, and art of subluxation detection and correction.

Probiotics can slow disease on coral reefs: They have microbiomes that benefit, like humans
A new study from researchers at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History demonstrated how a probiotic could save the Caribbean’s at-risk coral.
The compound slowed the spread of a deadly disease which began damaging coral in Florida in 2014 and has since rapidly spread south, throughout the Caribbean.
The study documents 6 years of testing in the lab and off the coast of Florida, to identify the best available treatment to combat ‘stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD).
